Shows that keep changing
Lumina Gallery runs a rotating programme. Instead of one permanent hang, we mount shows through the year, each one built around a group of Nigerian and African contemporary artists and the rooms here on Victoria Island. That means a visit in one season is never quite the same as the next, and there is usually something on the walls you have not seen before.
Now showing
- Large canvases, main roomBold, full-wall paintings in the main room. Stand back first, then walk close and look at how the surfaces are built up.
- Works on paper, side roomDrawings and works on paper in the smaller room, where the light is softer and you can look closely without a crowd.
- Mixed media, far wallPieces that combine paint with found material, hung along the far wall. The texture changes as you move past them.
- Sculpture on plinthsThree-dimensional work on plinths near the centre of the gallery. Walk around each piece; the form changes with every step.
- Photography, back wallPhotographs from Nigerian and African artists, hung in one line at eye level so the eye travels frame by frame.
- Small works at the deskA quiet shelf of small pieces for close looking, kept near the welcome desk where we can talk you through them.
